More important than all the products and techniques to use, it is very important to know your hair well. This way you will know the best way to deal with it and get the best possible results.

Healthy hair is determined by several things, namely:

  • Length - damaged hair has great difficulty in growing in length, usually having very thin, brittle and split ends.

  • Density - Hair density is the amount of hair on the head. It is described as fine, normal or thick hair. The amount of volume you can acquire in a certain hair style often depends on the density.

  • Porosity - Porosity is determined by the hair cuticles and whether they are more or less open and this can determine their ability to absorb hair masks and finishing creams.

There are three types of porosity:

capillary porosity

If you dye your hair, bleach and / or straighten it frequently, then your hair is probably medium / high porosity.⁣

⁣Hair does not have all the same porosity: it usually has lower porosity at the root (where it takes longer to dry) and higher porosity at the ends (wear of the hair over time, part that dries faster) .⁣

  • growth pattern - This pattern is the same as a fingerprint - they are unique to each individual and will determine the direction of growth for each hair, for example, the shape of the entries, how the hair grows at the nape, at the foot of the neck, etc. It can influence hairstyles.

  • Texture - It can be natural or artificially created with a cut, a hairstyle, or even a perm. This image simplifies and illustrates most types of hair by their curvature. It can vary over the entire length of the hair. A hair usually has several types of texture and it is very normal that with the method it changes and becomes more defined. The greater the number of hair curves, the more curly it is. Normally, wavier hair likes lighter products, while curly hair likes heavier and more nutritious products.

  • Shape - It is determined by the diameter of the hair follicle. The shape and texture will influence any hairstyle or finish done on the hair.

  • Elasticity - Refers to the ability of the hair to stretch and return to its original shape without breaking. It is also related to porosity. If the hair is damaged, then its structure will also be damaged, which will break more easily.
