Does the Hair Schedule really work?

Does the Hair Schedule really work?

Hair Tips
What is the Capillary Schedule? The capillary schedule is a homemade treatment that consists of using 3 types of hair masks in order to moisturize, nourish and rebuild it. This is done with hair masks and can be optional as long as they have the ingredients of each phase in their composition. The capillary schedule categorizes them into 3 types: Hydration - to replenish the water content of the hair. The ingredients stand out: extracts of plants and fruits, honey, milk, silk protein and glycerin. Nutrition - to replenish hair lipids. Noteworthy are the oils and butters. Reconstruction - to replace the “capillary mass”. Ingredients such as keratin (animal or vegetable), proteins and amino acids stand out. Division of ingredients This classification completely ignores those…

Moisture doesn't have to be bad for your hair!

Moisture doesn't have to be bad for your hair!

Hair Tips
What happens to the humidity? Moisture / water can get into the hair and make thin, curly hair straight and frizzy. The cause of the frizz created by moisture is the diffusion of water vapor into the hair. Hair with high moisture absorption can occupy 15 to 20% of its own weight when compared to totally dry hair, and the absorption rate increases at higher temperatures. Hair is normally sensitive to moisture and has already been used in the first hygrometer instruments to measure relative humidity. The inside of the hair consists of two different regions of proteins: the orthocortex and the paracortex. These areas absorb water differently, so they do not swell in the same way. This differential swelling causes…

Caring for Curly Hair in Summer

Hair Tips
With the heat and frequent beach days it is important to take care not only of the health of our skin, but also of the health of our hair! After all, it is a period in which the hair tends to do great damage, whether due to sun exposure or because it gets wet with sea salt or chlorine. Does too much sun in your hair have consequences? The results of the aforementioned articles showed that UVB radiation is the main responsible for the loss of capillary protein and UVA the responsible for the color change, regardless of the type of hair. Solar radiation affects properties such as color, brightness, resistance, protein content, texture, among others. The dyed and white hair are the most susceptible to damage by UV radiation because it does not have so much melanin - the…

This is a publication made in partnership with Juciara, a specialist in natural hair! I asked you to share with me some tips for curly women who want to go to hairdressers and how to do it, here are all the tips! Today we are going to talk about types of cuts for curly hair and Juciara starts by saying that the cuts do not always have a name, and there is nothing wrong with that. Some hair has such particular characteristics that people can describe exactly what they want and how they want it, when it comes to scissors. Of course, the opinion of the professional helps a lot when choosing, because sometimes what the client mentalizes for her hair may not work, when we take into account factors such as: density, texture, curvature, length, volume,…

Extra Doubts: Curly Girl Method and Hair Schedule

Hair Tips
I challenged Marta Ferreira, from Blog A Pele que Habito, to write articles about the Hair Schedule and the Curly Girl Method analyzed with me in the eyes of science, in a series of 4 publications. The first article in this series can be found here, the second here, the third here and the fourth here. Can hair finishing be done with conditioner or just finishing creams? Both of these products have the function of facilitating the act of combing the hair, through the lubrication of its shaft and can leave some residue on the hair when used. In terms of composition, these products are apparently similar. However, caution is needed when using the conditioner to finish the hair due to the possibility of preserving ingredients ...

Is Sodium Hydroxide harmful to hair?

Is Sodium Hydroxide harmful to hair?

Hair Tips
❌ NO ❌ I don’t know where this myth came from, but I’m getting so many questions about it that I thought it would be better to publish it. ❌ There is no scientific evidence that Sodium Hydroxide causes any kind of straightening or chemical cut in commercial products such as hair masks, conditioners, etc. ➡️ WHAT IS SODIUM HYDROXIDE FOR? It serves to adjust the pH of the formula. In a commercial hair product its concentration is very low, as it is used for the purpose of balancing the pH of the formula and not to modify the structure of the hair. In a hair straightening, discoloration or relaxation the amount of Sodium Hydroxide is much higher, to the point of pH being able to completely open the hair cuticles to modify its molecular structure. There is more risk ...

MESSAGES I RECEIVE ... ⬇️⁣ ⁣ ⁣ “How long until I have beautiful hair?” ⁣ “I've tried a thousand products and I can't have hair like yours.” ⁣ “I want to quit because I can't have a good definition . ”⁣ ⁣ ⁣ WHAT IS CAPILLARY TRANSITION? ✨⁣ ⁣ ⁣ It is the period of adaptation to the natural texture of the hair as it grows. The texture is lost with some kind of aggressive procedure (and not only). ⁣ ⁣ Some people have the courage and do a BIG CHOP (cut ALL the damaged hair), but many curlies are not willing to do this, so , the solution is to spend this period in which the hair has two different textures. ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ This is one of the most complicated moments that a curly girl can go through, so…
