Fructis Aloe Vera Hydra Bomb - Garnier

Aloe Vera Fructis Garnier Hydra Bomb

Shall we talk about this famous product?

There are plenty of reviews on this leave in cream, but there’s no talking on what we really want to know for our curly hair. After all, how can we properly use this and what do we have to know about it?

About the leave in cream Fructis Aloe Vera Hydra Bomb from Garnier:

It is accepted in Curly Girl method, so it has no parabens, drying alcohols and silicones.

It has no irritating ingredients that can cause dermatitis or fungal conditions on the scalp. The only allergen, that may cause some kind of reaction is Benzyl Alcohol, that despite being an alcohol accepted in the method, it is not a long chain fatty alcohol, but ring-shaped. It’s not as bad as the drying alcohols, but it can lead to irritation and itching of the scalp.

If you have a sensitive skin or scalp, you must be aware that this product has Citric Acid and Lactic Acid.

Product Ingredients

Aloe Vera Fructis Garnier Hydra Bomb

The most important and persistent thing is undoubtedly the moisturizing power it has. This cream is highly moisturizing which is great for a drier hair in need to retain water in the capillary fibre.

The Fructis Aloe Vera Hydra Bomb from Garnier has a single protein in its composition, a Hydroxypropyltrimonium Hydrolyzed Oat Protein that being a hydrolyzed protein, it is small enough at amino acid level to enter the capillary fibre, which is great to give more body and density to thinner hair.

This leave in cream has Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, which works great as an antibacterial ingredient and has properties that help with dandruff.

This cream also features a Polyquaternium-37 which is used as a conditioner for thin hair with no density, managing to give more volume and body.

How can I use the Fructis Aloe Vera Hidra Bomb from Garnier?

This cream is great to use after taking a shower in order to style your hair. It is a light cream, very moisturizing, that depending on your hair porosity you will find that you have to use more or less amount of product.

A hair with high porosity will feel that it needs more amount of product and it may not obtain the desired definition, but with the great amount of moisturizing ingredients you will achieve a great volume for sure. This type of hair will enjoy this leave in cream as a refresh on a day after, as it is quite light and it helps to fight frizz and lack of definition.

As for hair with a more medium/low porosity, will like this product a lot because it is a light cream that will not build up on the hair, thus giving great definition. As for day afters, it should be diluted for a better result.

A great tip for my curly friends – humectants

This leave in cream is a humectant, this means that it is a cream used to moisturize dry or damaged hair. Humectants are hydrophilic substances, so, they will attract water for your hair, moisturizing it.

What do humectants do

In an atmospheric situation with high humidity, humectants can attract too much water for your hair, which will make the hair “swell”, getting the look of a huge volume, losing its shape and becoming very frizzy.

In the case of an atmospheric situation of a summer day with low humidity condition, humectants will take water out of the hair, as by osmosis, thereby drying the hair.

That is…

This leave in cream is very good for normal days, shall we say, without being too much rain and humidity and without being one of those days that almost feel like 40 degrees in the shade. On both of those extreme weather, it will not look good on your curls.

If you want to use this product on a more extreme day, you can choose to use it as a first product on your hair to maintain its hydration (use it with loads of water) and then use a more heavy cream with oils that won’t let water leave or get in the hair.

Opinion on this product in my hair…

To use this leave in cream on hair I just don’t think it will give a great definition, even in hair with high porosity. I like to use it with a gel to have a stronger fixing power and I think the end result is much more beautiful.

As I have high porosity, I felt I have to use a big amount of this leave in cream to achieve the desired final result, but, it surprised me a lot in terms of volume. It is great in my hair to moisturize and give an extra volume, but not so great with curls definition.

I love it for a day after, it is light enough to put it in my hair directly and tame excessive frizz, but it does not help much in the lack of curl definition.

I think it is a great leave in cream for those days when you’re tired of using heavy leave in creams with butters and oils, and it is a good way to have a “break” on your hair on a healthier way, but always taking into account that we will not stay with good afters day for long (to me it lasted only two days of acceptable hair).

Now I want to know your opition on this. 🙂 have you used the Fructis Aloe Vera Hydra Bomb from Garnier? What did you think of it? 😘
